Arrest made in connection to string of delivery thefts in Destrehan

A Mississippi woman has been arrested in connection with a rash of stolen delivery packages in Destrehan.

Ashlyn Groce, 21 and of 351 Oak Avenue in Gulfport, was arrested on charges of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling, theft (two counts) and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile after St. Charles Parish deputies determined she and a 13-year-old female allegedly stole several packages from the door steps of residences in the Destrehan area.

Groce and the unnamed 13-year-old were apparently seen on video stealing one of the packages from a victim, via that resident’s security camera, according to St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office spokesman Cpl. James Grimaldi.

Grimaldi said police have connected the suspects to two thefts in the Villere Drive area. But he said there have been 10 packages reported stolen in the area recently and that eight other potential victims are still to be interviewed.

The investigation remains ongoing. Grimaldi asked that anyone with information or who is a victim of package theft in the Ormond area contact Detective Mahan of the Sheriff’s Office at (985) 783-1135.
