It’s interesting to watch businesses re-open in New Orleans after suffering from the blitz of Hurricane Katrina. Such was the case when Camellia Grill welcomed customers a few days ago on Carrolton Avenue near its bend into St. Charles Avenue near the river.
This writer was attending Tulane when the greatest hamburger and omelet restaurant in the world first opened its doors in 1946. Before then there was only Toddle House across the street that we could wander to for a late night or early morning rescue from the hunger pains that plague college students.
Camellia Grill turned cooking common ordinary foods into pieces of delicious artwork. Hopefully they will continue that tradition with their re-opening.
I haven’t gotten back there yet. But I assure you it won’t be long before I do..
