As you may know there are several budget bills attempting to move across the Congressional floor that adversely affects every member of the National Guard and Reserve. While it may be difficult to follow all of the proposed budget changes, there are two in particular that we should definitely oppose.

On Monday, July 23, the St. Charles Parish Council passed ordinance 12-7-9 which required parish workers not to disclose the names of our good citizens who report violations to the parish.

As we watch the cost of living in St. Charles parish rise again, it should add to the list of questions we have about how our elected officials (local, state and federal) spend our tax dollars.
Many of us may not realize it, but the last 20 years have been some of the most exciting times in the history of home landscaping. It would be impossible to list all the new ornamental plants – from trees to shrubs to perennials to annual flowers – that have been recently released.

Once again, in less than a year, the Administrator and operators of our St. Charles Parish Hospital are asking the good folks of St. Charles Parish to give them more money to expand the hospital. Nothing has changed, except for their plan on how they will access your taxes.

I am truly perplexed as to why, after the obvious and overwhelming opposition to repeal the fireworks ban in St. Charles Parish a year ago, this kind of proposition would again rear its ugly head.

On Feb. 28, 2011 six African Americans met with the Superintendent of St. Charles Parish Public Schools and among other concerns, raised the question of the gap in academic performance between African-American and white students. Following is precisely what we requested:
