After experiencing a long dry spell with no murders in the parish over a 13-month period from early 2011 to mid 2012, St. Charles Parish has seen four murders in the past 11 months–all of which have occurred on the East Bank. Three of those murders occurred in the first three months of 2013. and all of the murders reportedly involved the use of drugs.

LULING – The Community Chorus of River Parishes will present numerous Taizé Worship Services over the next month.
Taizé services provide a setting where people can experience God and recharge their spiritual batteries. The service includes reflective music, chants, readings and a time of silence for quiet prayer.
Performances will take place:
Saturday, April 27 at 6 p.m. at the United Methodist Church at 1001 Paul Maillard Road at Luling.
Sunday, April 28 at 7 p.m. at the St. Charles United Methodist Church at 1905 Ormond Blvd. in Destrehan.

LULING – A prescription drug take back day will be held on Saturday, April 27 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
The purpose of this event is to allow citizens to dispose of prescription drugs that may be expired or are not being used for whatever reason.
The drop off site for St. Charles Parish will be located across the street from the West Bank Bridge Park in Luling at the overflow parking lot (adjacent to the levee). LULING – Registration for USA Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) boys and girls summer track will be open on April 27 from 10 a.m. to noon at the St. Charles Parish Recreation Office.
Registration is open for applicants from ages 5 to 18. A $100 fee and copy of birth certificate is required. Summer track events include 100, 200 and 400 meter dashes, long jump, high jump, 800 and 1500 meter runs, hurdles and 400 and 1600 meter relays.
