Mouth watering for more?
Because of the overwhelming success of its Fish Fry on March 10, Knights of Columbus Council 2409 will host a Fish Fry on Friday, March 24 to support the Hahnville High School Band’s upcoming trip to Washington, D.C. Dinners will be served from 5 p.m. to until sold out at St. Anthony’s Church on Angus Drive in Luling. The cost will be $6 per plate and will consist of fresh fried catfish, potato salad, corn and French bread, take-out or dine-in. Drinks and dessert will be available.

Strengthen couple communication skills
The First Union Presbyterian Church will hold a Marriage Enrichment Seminar on March 25 from 9am – 3pm. The seminar will guide 8 couples through a behavioral program designed to improve communication between partners. The seminar is open to the public, however, reservations are required. To make reservations contact the church office at 785-8486. Lunch as well as childcare will be provided. If the seminar is successful, future seminars will be scheduled.

Free broadway tunes at NSU next Sunday
The Bayou Community Band of Thibodaux will hold its Spring Concert at 5:00pm, Sunday, March 26 in the Talbot Auditorium at Nicholls State University. The concert is part of the eighth annual Jubilee, a festival of arts and humanities at NSU. The musical selection will be Broadway show tunes, light classics, marches and a medley of Ray Charles’ greatest hits. In addition, the Bayou Saxophone Ensemble will also perform from 4:15 to 4:45pm, in the lobby of Talbot Auditorium. The performance will feature music compositions from Broadway and Vaudeville by African American Composers. Admission to both performances is free and open to the public.

Best artists in town showcased
The St. Charles Art Guild will hold its Annual Art Show at the St. Charles Parish Library in St. Rose on April 7 and 8. The awards ceremony will take place on Saturday from 2- 4pm. The guild will award Best of Show, 1st,2nd,3rd and honorable mention. Art students from DHS and HHS will also participate. The show will be in honor of Dee Rabalais, a charter member of the guild.

Cast your lines for Christ
The Christian Fishing Club March meeting is set for March 23 at the First Baptist Church, 921 Paul Mallard Road at 6:30p.m. Guest speaker will be Ryan Lambert discussing the March 25 Fishing Tourney in Des Allemands. The event is open to men of all ages, fathers and sons.

Senior Citizens, put on your dancin’ shoes
Sheriff Greg Champagne will be holding his Annual Senior Citizens Easter Luncheon on Tuesday, April 11th. All Senior Citizens of St. Charles Parish are invited to attend. It will be held at the Shriner’s Hall on Ormond Boulevard in Destrehan. Lunch will be served between 11am and 11:30am. Special presentations will be handed out for the oldest male and female, along with door prizes donated by local businesses. The Shriner’s Dance Band will be performing beginning at 10am. Calling all DHS class of ‘81 graduates

The Destrehan High School Class of 1981 has scheduled its 25 Year Reunion for Saturday, June 10, 2006 from 7:00 – 11:00 pm at La Maison Magnolia in Norco. Tickets are $30 per person or $60 per couple and will include food, open bar and a DJ.

Hear the music of Ray Charles for free
The St Charles Parish Community Band will be holding a concert on Sunday, March 26. It will be held in the Hahnville High School Auditorium and will begin at 2:00 p.m. Selections include Sousa marches, excerpts from Ray Charles, and more. A special guest quintet composed of local musicians will also perform. The afternoon of music is free and open to the public.

Get those bingo dabbers ready!
VFW post 3750 located at 140 Angus Drive in Luling invites residents to attend Bingo every Tuesday night at 7p.m.
Bonanza, early bird and late bird pots in addition to 10 fun games of bingo will be played. There will be a prize gift on the 10th game, donated by a local business. There is also a special pot for lucky ball winners. Proceeds from bingo help veterans through out the parish.

Republican women welcome Mrs. Jindal
Republican Women of St. Charles general meeting will be a brunch held on Thursday, March 30th at 10am. Guest speaker to include Supryia Jindal, wife of Congressman Bobby Jindal, discussing her role as a politician’s wife. The meeting will be held at the home of Martha Laque, 239 Beaupre Dr in Luling. Anyone interested may attend by phoning 985-331-8598 to RSVP.

Run across the bridge for the United Way
Valero’s United Way Mississippi River Bridge Race (Hale Boggs Mississippi River Bridge) will be held on Saturday, March 1 at the East Bank Bridge Park in Destrehan and crossing the bridge into Luling. 5K Runners will start at 8:30a.m. followed by the 5k Walkers at 8:32a.m. The event will benefit the United Way of St. Charles Parish. Over $4000 in prize money will be awarded including a 5k course record bonus of $1000. Music will be by Burgundy.
