See traditional Creole mourning rituals

VACHERIE – St. Joseph Plantation announces its sixth annual “Mourning Tour” featuring the customs and rituals of 19th century Creole Louisiana. Beginning Oct. 1, the house will be “dressed in full deep mourning”, according to the old prescribed protocol of mourning. St. Joseph Plantation is located along River Road in Vacherie and is open for tours Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.Adult tickets are $15.
