Library to hold flash fiction course

The St. Charles Parish East Library will be holding a flash fiction writing class, “Power of the Pen: Polaroid Prose,” on Thurs., Sept. 28 at 6:30 p.m.

Flash fiction is a style of writing that emphasizes word economy and poetic abstraction. Pieces usually fall under five hundred words in length, focusing on a vivid description of a snapshot scene. The class will offer a crash course in flash writing and an encouraging environment for writers to create and discuss.

Michael Stohlman and Devi Persaud will be heading up  the flash fiction program. Stohlman is an English student at the University of New Orleans, and Persaud is in charge of the teen programs at the East Regional Library.

The program is geared towards young adults aged 12 through 18. The East Regional Library is located at 100 River Oaks Dr. in Destrehan. For more information, contact. 764-2366.
