Jack Iko Memorial 5K Walk/Run

DESTREHAN – This year’s Jack Iko Memorial 5K Walk/Run will will be held on Saturday, March 29 at 10 am.

This year’s event which will have a 1 mile fun run for children 12 and under, as well as the 5K run.

The 5K and 1 Mile Fun Run will begin and conclude in front of St. Charles Borromeo School and Church, with the majority of the run taking place on the levee.

People of all ages are invited to participate. There will be two water stations on the levee. After the runs, on the front lawn on campus, there will be jambalaya with white beans, bananas, oranges, water, Gatorade, soft drinks, desserts, beer, music and much more.

This year’s proceeds will be donated to “Miracles to Milestones”. “Miracles to Milestones” is a non-profit organization that is trying to raise money build a new handicap accessible playground in St. Charles Parish on donated land. “Miracles to Milestones” was founded by Hillary Sirmon, a mother of three (soon to be four) children, including Benjamin (almost 2) who has a rare genetic disorder called Centronuclear Myopathy-DNM2. Registration can be mailed or dropped off at St. Charles Borromeo School at 13396 River Road in Destrehan.
