Hunter education course

PARISHWIDE – St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne is offering a two-day long hunter education course on Friday, July 12 from 6-9:30 p.m. and Saturday, July 13 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. State law requires that all individuals born on or after Sept. 1, 1969 obtain a hunter education certificate card prior to purchasing a hunting license in Louisiana. Individuals must be ten years of age or older to be certified.

The course will cover such topics as firearm safety, survival, first aid and wildlife identification.
The classes will be held at the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office’s Firing Range located on LA 3127 in Killona behind the Nelson Coleman Correctional Facility.

The class size is limited to 30 students.

Each student must pre-register and attend both days.
