DESTREHAN – The bell that once hung from the George Prince Ferry is now on display at the St. Charles Parish East Regional Library. It is on permanent loan from the Louisiana State Museum. In honor of this, the library will show “The Luling Ferry Disaster,” a documentary by local filmmaker Royd Anderson on March 12 at 10 a.m. Anderson will be present to speak about the making of the documentary.
Conrad Alleman and Brandon Woods, fifth graders at R.J. Vial Elementary School in Paradis, will also be present. The students recently won first place in the history category of the school’s social studies fair for their project “The George Prince Ferry Disaster.”
