COA host annual fishing rodeo

NORCO – The St. Charles Council on Aging and the St. Charles Parish Department of Parks and Recreation will host their annual fishing rodeo on Wednesday, April 1 from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Bonnet Carre Spillway Park Pavilion in Norco.

“The event is open to seniors 60 years and older,” said COA spokesperson Stephanie Boudreaux. “Fishing poles and bait are supplied, but seniors are asked to bring their own hats and chairs.”

Event highlights include music, entertainment, prizes, food and lots of fun.

In addition to the fishing rodeo, the COA will also host a cookie contest and a “Tall Fish Tale” essay contest at the pavilion.

Seniors are invited to write a funny or far out “Tall Fish Tale” ranging from 50 to 75 words. Deadline is March 25. Entries may be handwritten or typed.

The cookie contest will also be held on Wednesday, April 1 at the Bonnet Carre Spillway recreation area in Norco during the organization’s annual fishing rodeo. For entry forms and rules, contact Stephanie at 985-783-6683.
