Public officials pray during the opening ceremonies at the St. Charles Parish celebration of the National Day of Prayer in 2009.

HAHNVILLE – Life Church in Boutte is sponsoring the 59th Annual National Day of Prayer this Thursday, May 6.

An event will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the St. Charles Parish Courthouse, River Road in Hahnville.

“The main goal of the event is not just for Christians, but for the entire nation to pray for our national, state and local government as well as the leaders…and pray for the people of our nation as a whole,” said Vicki Childress with Life Church. “We try to cover each branch of government…and then we also have prayer for our education system, our service providers, firemen…whoever we can.”

Join with thousands of others around the United States in prayer.

Included in the event are speakers from all different areas in the community who will discuss their roles and responsibilities.

Childress said that the only thing people need to bring to the event is an open mind and heart and a desire to pray.
