CHAUVIN – The annual Blessing of the Shrimp Fleet boat parade will take place on Sunday, April 27 at noon and will be held in conjunction with the Chauvin Folk Art Festival from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The boat blessing is sponsored by St. Joseph Catholic Church. The event begins in front of church and proceeds down Bayou Petit Caillou to Boudreaux Canal.
The purpose of the event is to ask God for a safe and successful shrimping season. Boats in the flotilla are highly decorated for the occasion.

The boat blessing will begin at St. Joseph Catholic Church located at 5232 Highway 56 in Chauvin.
The folk art festival will be held at the Chauvin Sculpture Gardens located at 5337 Bayouside Drive in Chauvin.
