A course of instruction will be held for any St. Charles Parish resident who is interested in serving as a Commissioner or a Commissioner-in-Charge for elections that began on July 1 and will last through July 1, 2012.
The class will be offered on July 21 at 2 p.m., July 23 at 6 p.m. and July 25 at 10 a.m. All classes will be held in the office of the Clerk of Court in Hahnville. This course will qualify each resident who completes it for a four-year period and they will not have to take the course again until 2012.
Interested residents must be a registered voter in the district where they live, must need no assistance to vote, must be able to open and close a voting machine without assistance and must complete all election forms correctly.
Residents won’t qualify for the classes if they have been convicted of an election offense or are a candidate for election to public office.
Current Commissioners and Commissioners-in-Charge are required to attend one of the classes in order to be recommissioned.
Anyone with questions regarding these classes needs to call Charles J. Oubre, Jr. at 985-783-6632.
