Annual Kid Krewe de Market set to roll at Ormond Plantation

DESTREHAN – Kid Krewe de Market will roll at the German Coast Farmers’ Market on Saturday, Jan. 26 at 10 a.m. at Ormond Plantation, the East Bank site of the Farmers’ Market.

Decorated wagons with members ages 8 and under will parade through the market booth area whirling Mardi Gras throws.

First and second place prizes will be awarded to the most attractive “floats.”

To participate in the parade, the decorated wagon must be pulled by an adult and the rider (age 8 or under) must provide his/her own throws.

Entrance fee is $5. Participants are asked to arrive at the Parade Registration Table, located near the rear of the Market, at 9:30a.m. to sign-up.

All are invited to attend the Farmers’ Markets between the hours of 8 a.m. and noon every Saturday morning at Ormond Plantation on River Road in Destrehan.

The Wednesday West Bank Market is also open every Wednesday from 3 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Fresh produce, citrus, wines, jellies, honey, fresh and smoked rotiserrie meats, kettle corn, pestos, pepper jelly, gourmet rice, Mediterranean cuisine, jambalaya, pastalaya, gourmet sandwiches, specialty breads, scented candles, soaps, plants, herbs, pastries, king cakes, and more are available at your local German Coast Farmers’ Markets.
