8-band line-up headlines benefit

LULING – A benefit dinner for 17-month-old Briauna Frickey will be held on Sunday, Aug. 16 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the VFW Hall on Angus Drive in Luling.

Briauna, who is the daughter of Duston Frickey and the granddaughter of Ruby Folse Frickey and Sherwood “Flash” Frickey of Des Allemands, was diagnosed with bilateral retinoblastoma – tumors in both eyes. She is currently receiving treatment at St. Jude Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Admission is $5. Entertainment includes Wayne Foret, Aaron Foret, Creole Soul Band featuring Brad Sapia, Ronnie Boudreaux and Brian Melancon, Skeeter Thomassie & the Swamp Pop Band, Mark Ordoyne, The Red River Band, D.J. Fish and Duane Schurb.

Jambalaya, fried fish and white bean plate lunches will be sold for $7. There is also a chance to win a 32-inch flat screen TV. A parade of prizes will be raffled and a 50/50 drawing will also be held.

Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Donations can be made to the Briauna Frickey Medical Fund at Chase Bank.
