DESTREHAN – Destrehan Plantation, Irish Cultural Museum of New Orleans and St. Charles Parish East Regional Library are holding a lecture series addressing history that has been overlooked in the classroom humanities. Beyond The History Books is open to the public and free of charge. State Rep. Greg Miller, of Norco, was fishing with friends in the area east of Grand Isle.
The group started to boat back to Bridgeside Marina at Grand Isle but it was too late, the storm had moved into their path and there was no way around it.
