Wildcats creep past Hahnville before knocking off Thibodaux, C. Lafourche

Destrehan (12-10) knocked off rival Hahnville last Thursday and beat both Thibodaux and Central Lafourche this week to improve to 3-1 in district play.

Destrehan pitcher Kade Granier was impressive for the Wildcats against the Tigers, limiting Hahnville to four hits while striking out nine in seven innings.Destrehan scored their only run in the third inning after Hahnville pitcher Tyler Lamers hit Logan Krajcer with a pitch. Krajcer advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt by Brennan Breaud and took third after Sam Steib drew a walk. Krajcer later came home on a balk to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead.

Granier continued to cruise from that point on, allowing just two hits in the next four innings to secure the win.While Destrehan picked up the victory, they only recorded two hits in the game. Steib finished 1-for-2 while Ryan Brewer went 1-for-3.

The Wildcats dominated Thibodaux on Monday, scoring 10 runs in the first five innings to end the game early due to the mercy rule.

Destrehan struck first in the opening inning when Breaud singled to start the frame before taking second on a passed ball and advancing to third on a grounder by Jacob Cambre.He later came in to score on another passed ball to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead.The Wildcats added three more runs in the second inning, two of which came on bases loaded walks.

Cambre hit a sacrifice fly later in the inning to put Destrehan on top 4-0.In the third, Brock Benedetto hit a sacrifice fly to plate Steib, and in the fourth Destrehan scored two more runs on an error and an RBI single by Granier.The Wildcats officially put the game away in the fifth. Breaud singled to plate both Nathan Pilutti and Austin McDonald to give Destrehan a 9-0 lead.The Wildcats won the game on an RBI single by Granier.Breaud led Destrehan from the plate, going 2-for-2 with three RBIs.

Granier went 2-for-4 with two RBIs, while Cambre, Benedetto and McDonald each drove in a run.Brewer picked up the shutout win, holding Thibodaux to four hits while striking out five in five innings.

The Wildcats recorded only four hits in Tuesday’s district game against Central Lafourche, but they made the most of them in a 1-0 victory.Destrehan’s solo run came in the third. Granier hit a two-out single to keep the inning alive and then stole second.Steib reached on an error that gave Granier time to cross home for the 1-0 Destrehan lead.

Nick McClendon, Granier and Cole Martin combined to keep Central Lafourche off the board after that.Together, the trio allowed just five hits. McClendon picked up the win after limiting Central Lafourche to two hits in the first four innings.
