
Several Destrehan and Hahnville athletes competed at the Class 5A state championship track and field meet on Saturday at LSU’s Bernie Moore Stadium, each cementing a season among the nine best 5A competitors in their respective events for 2022.
Boys
For Hahnville, Jarian Shelby took fourth in the shot put (15.50). Micah Lamers finished ninth in the 400 (54.29). Ryan Abadie finished ninth in the pole vault (12-00).
Destrehan’s 4×200 relay team (Kevin Adams, Phillip Wright, Travon Thomas and Anthony Robinson) captured fourth place in the state (1:27.82).
Destrehan’s Skyler Gayten took eighth in the 110 hurdles (16.43). Phillip Wright finished seventh in the 400 (50.26) and eighth in the 200 (21.83). Daniel Blood finished ninth in the triple jump (13.03).
Girls
Among Destrehan competitors, the 4×200 relay team (Sydney Hymel, Amiree Henderson, Ivie Mashia and Breion Richard) finished sixth (1:43.92). The 4×100 relay team (Madison Nunnery, Henderson, My’Jhia Vaughn and Richard) finished seventh (49.83).
Marley Richard of Destrehan finished fourth in the triple jump (11.55), fifth in the 100 (12.20), sixth in the 200 (25.10) and eighth in the long jump (5.38). Ivie Mashia finished seventh in the 400 (1:01.41). Kaylee Keller finished ninth in the 100-meter hurdles (17.00).
For Hahnville, Madison Bailey took fifth in the 400 (58.86). Mallory Whitaker finished sixth in the high jump (5-00) and likewise sixth in the pole vault (10-06). The 4×400 relay team (Briyell Dent, Madison Bailey, Dihlynn Mitchell and Mi’Ge Leban) finished ninth (4:25.10). Hahnville’s 4×200 relay team (Madison Bailey, Briyell Dent, Jonita Hunter and Tina Hunter) finished eighth (1:47.68).
