Tirop, Skotty defend titles in 5K Bridge Run

Micah Tirop and Sarah Skotty defended their previous year titles in winning the 16th Annual United Way of St. Charles 5K Bridge Run. Winning times of 15:27 and 17:50, respectively, earned each runner $500.

Following in second place in the 5K were Patrick Gavin (15:40) and Charlotte Everhardt (18:45), while Matt Manning and Megan Gohries were third overall. Manning had a time of 16:03 while Gohries finished in 19:06.

Top finishers in the Masters division were Byron Adams and Angela King, while Derrick Lee and Kathleen Welch led the Grand Masters division. Aaron Boudreaux and Ruby Chaney topped the 5K race walker division.

For the first time, the United Way also hosted a 10K run. Participants in this race started in St. Rose on the Mississippi River levee path and then merged with the 5K participants before the Hale Boggs Bridge.

Adam Hoogewind and Kate Accardo were the top finishers in this event. Hoogewind won $200 for finishing with a time of 34:46, while Accardo took home $200 for finishing the 10K in 41 minutes. Richard Bouchaert (34:59) and Monique Hodson (46:43) finished in second place while Don Wuintana (38:06) and Khanh Le (48:39) came in third.
