The St. Charles Parish Department of Parks and Recreation is now registering youngsters for its 2010 baseball, softball and Challenger baseball programs.
Boys and girls 5-18 are eligible to play. The Challenger program is specially designed for children with developmental disabilities.
Hahnville, Luling, Boutte, Mimosa and Des Allemands Booster Clubs will register participants from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 9 at Landry Alternative School, located at 108 Tiger Circle in Hahnville.
Norco, New Sarpy, Destrehan and St. Rose Booster Clubs will register participants from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 9 at Harry Hurst Middle School, located at 170 Roadrunner Lane in Destrehan.
Booster Club fees will be collected the day of the registration. The date used to determine age is Jan. 1 for girls and April 30 for boys.
Makeup registrations will take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Feb. 18, with Westbank Booster clubs at Landry School and Eastbank Booster clubs at Hurst Middle.
The deadline to register is 3:30 p.m. Feb. 19 at the St. Charles Parish Recreation Department Office, located at 171 Keller Street in Hahnville.
In addition, 2010 American League tryouts will be held on the following dates:
11-12 year olds – 9 a.m. March 13, West Bank Bridge Park
13-14 year olds – Noon March 13, West Bank Bridge Park
9-10 year olds – 3 p.m. March 13, West Bank Bridge Park
Coaching staff for the American League will be selected by the Recreation Department. Please contact our office at (985) 783-5090 for an application to coach.
