Brandt Bourgeois
1st Team All-District
Senior, Destrehan
Destrehan’s Brandt Bourgeois shined from both the plate and the mound during his senior season. He hit .382 while recording 18 RBIs, five doubles and a home run. He also finished with a 6-3 record from the mound, striking out 71 and finishing with an ERA of 3.13.
Ryan Burks
1st Team All-District
Junior, Destrehan
Only a junior, Ryan Burks was recognized as the best designated hitter in District 6-5A. He finished the season for Destrehan with a .357 batting average that included two home runs. Burks, who had 25 hits in 2011, also recorded 17 RBIs and three doubles.
Zach Schexnaydre
1st Team All-District
Senior, Destrehan
Destrehan’s Zach Schexnaydre led his team in almost every offensive category, finishing with the highest batting average while hitting the most home runs and driving in the most runs. Schexnaydre finished up his Wildcat career by hitting 11 home runs with a batting average of .390 and 35 RBIs.
Cody Farrell
1st Team All-District
Junior, Hahnville
Hahnville junior Cody Farrell put up some impressive numbers in 2011, recording six doubles, a home run and 17 RBIs while finishing with a batting average of .364. Farrell, who had a slugging percentage of .466, also had 15 stolen bases.
Mike Ford
1st Team All-District
Junior, Hahnville
Hahnville’s Mike Ford has been one of his team’s top performers for the last two years, and finished his junior season with a .351 batting average that included six doubles and 22 RBIs. Ford also ended the season with a .415 slugging percentage.
All-District 2nd Team
Jace Weber
2nd Team All-District
Soph., Destrehan
Sophomores don’t usually start at Destrehan, but Jace Weber joined a handful of other talented youngsters by hitting .327 with four doubles and 12 RBIs. Weber also scored 28 runs.
Tyler Cooper
2nd Team All-District
Senior, Hahnville
Extra base hits were a specialty for Hahnville’s Tyler Cooper during his senior season. He recorded four triples, four doubles and a home run with 33 RBIs while batting .343 for the Tigers.
Blake Hymel
2nd Team All-District
Soph., Destrehan
Another of Destrehan’s talented sophomores, Blake Hymel shined in limited duty for the Wildcats. He finished with a .320 batting average while knocking three doubles and recording 13 RBIs.
Jared Vial
2nd Team All-District
Senior, Hahnville
Hahnville catcher Jared Vial brought plenty of runs across the plate, recording 19 RBIs on seven doubles and a home run. He finished the year with a .280 batting average.
Adam Dufrene
2nd Team All-District
Senior, Hahnville
Hahnville pitcher Adam Dufrene served as the Tigers ace throughout the season. He finished with a 5-5 record and a 4.39 ERA. He struck out 52 batters in 52 innings of work.
Tyler Simmons
2nd Team All-District
Soph., Hahnville
Only a sophomore, Hahnville’s Tyler Simmons was one of the Tigers most clutch performers in 2011. He hit .316 while recording 22 RBIs. He also stole nine bases and finished with a slugging percentage of .358.
Jesse Bryant
Honorable Mention
Soph., Destrehan
Jesse Bryant is one of three Destrehan sophomores to earn recognition as an All-District selection. Bryant hit .289 with six doubles and 23 RBIs. He also scored 20 runs and had a .900 fielding percentage.
Easton Melancon
Honorable Mention
Soph., Hahnville
Easton Melancon put together an impressive sophomore season for the Tigers, batting .289 with 16 RBIs by way of two doubles, two triples and a home run.
