Tigers create joy in Hahnville

Two victories send them to the quarterfinals

Hahnville entered into the playoffs as district champs and has managed to gain victories over their first two opponents in the playoffs.

The Tigers took the bi-district game on Thursday from Ellender 8-0 and squeezed through the regional game on Sunday against Central Lafourche with a score of 3-2.

Tiger’s pitcher, Garrett Loup, did an outstanding job in the Ellender game when he held them to four hits and pitched a shutout. As for offense in the Ellender game, Adam Risinger hit a home run in the second inning along with Colby Broussard who hit a home run in the 5th inning.

After a rain delay, the Tigers regained momentum creating a gap in score in the fourth inning with a series of smart plays. Stephany who led with a bunt gained one base by an error created by Ellender’s catcher Shawn Billiot and the other base by stealing. Colby’s single advanced Stephany home. Risinger’s double created Brossard with an opportunity to score. Risinger took home after a powerful single by Daniel Frickey.

While the Ellender game proved easy, Central Lafourche gave Tigers all that they could handle.

Coach Frank Cazeaux said, “It’s not how you start the game, it’s how you finish that matters.” The Tigers proved this to be true. In the bottom of the 7th inning, in the game against Central Lafourche, the Tigers were down 2-1 with Jordan Stephany at the bat and Aaron and Garrett Loup on the deck. Tiger fans were sweating when Jordan hit a curveball and drove it up the middle, bringing in both players for the victory

The Tigers are looking forward to their next game against the Grace King/Jesuit winner on May 12.
