Tigers claim district title with 2-0 win

The Hahnville boys’ soccer team locked up the District 8-1 championship with a 2-0 victory over East St. John.

Hahnville controlled the ball early, which led to plenty of scoring opportunities in the first half. The Tigers took the lead on a corner kick by B.J. Hartman, who placed the ball perfectly across the front of the goal. Junior Craig Ford took advantage of the kick to blast the ball into the back of the net to give Hahnville a 1-0 lead.

At the start of the second half East St. John came out energized and tried to take control of the game. They used combination passes along with long balls over the top to utilize their speed. However, senior Tiger defender Julius Medina was able to keep the Wildcats from scoring.

East St. John eventually lost the momentum and the Tigers made them pay. Ford took a shot from 25 yards out that bounced off the ESJ goalie. Brennen Samaha got the rebound and sent the ball to the back of the net to secure the Hahnville win.

This is Hahnville’s second district championship in as many seasons. They will now head to the Division 1 playoffs. Seeding was not announced as of press time.
