Tiger wrestlers finish in top 10 of weight class in state

Four Hahnville High School wrestlers finished in the top 10 of their respective weight classes during the LHSAA State Wrestling Championship, which was held last weekend at the Pontchartrain Center in Kenner.

Cameron Fremen finished third in the 138-pound weight class, while Thomas Jones finished fourth in the 220-pound weight class. Other top finishers were James Poree, who came in sixth in the 182-pound weight class and Gavin Fish, who claimed the sixth spot in the 145-pound weight class.

Hahnville wrestler Cammi LaRosee was also honored at the event by being selected to the LHSAA Academic Composite Team. She was given the award because her GPA is one of the top 10 in the state among all high school wrestlers.

Other members of the team who took part in the state tournament are: Dominic Folino, Jordan Hernandez, Jordan Cook, Cameron Cambre, Derek Cantrelle, Timothy Porche, Garret Thorning, Ryan Baudouin and Kendrick Jones.

The Tigers combined to finish seventh in the state.
