St. Charles Parish hosts basketball camp

LULING — The St. Charles Parish Parks and Recreation department will be holding a summer basketball camp July 14-17 under the instruction of former Hahnville head basketball coach Brian Lumar.

The camp will be open for boys and girls ages 6 to 16 years old and will be held each day from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center in Luling. The fee is $100 per camper.

Lumar is Hahnville’s current athletic director after a successful run as the school’s basketball coach that saw him finish with a record of 165-40. He was named Louisiana Coach of the Year the Louisiana Sports Writers Association in 2009, when he led the Tigers to the Class 5A state finals.  Lumar is Loyola University’s all-time leading scorer and a member of its athletic Hall of Fame.

Professional sports performance and enhancement trainer Duke Rousse will also be part of the camp to offer speed, agility, strength and power training.
