Six DHS students sign athletic scholarships

Six Destrehan High School students recently signed scholarship offers to play at the college level.

Abbie Hall – Destrehan – Softball
Signed with Southwest Mississippi Community College

Destrehan’s Abbie Hall was a three-year starter for the Wildcats. In her senior year, she drove in a team-leading 28 runs for Destrehan while batting .381. She also had 10 doubles and hit 6 home runs.

Tanner Hayes – Destrehan – Baseball
Signed with Baton Rouge Community College

Destrehan catcher Tanner Hayes finished the season with an impressive .450 average while driving in 30 runs on 2 home runs, 8 doubles and a triple. He also had a .995 fielding percentage behind the plate with 5 assists.

Nicole Daigle – Destrehan – Soccer
Signed with Southwest Mississippi Community College

As a senior for the Lady Wildcats soccer team, center midfielder Nicole Daigle helped lead her squad to the playoffs. Daigle was a member of the All-District team.

Kayla Smothers – Destrehan – Basketball
Signed with Delgado Community College

Destrehan basketball player Kayla Smothers was her team’s leading scorer during her senior year and helped the Lady Wildcats reach the playoffs. She was a 1st team All-District selection.

Blake Hymel – Destrehan – Baseball
Signed with Baton Rouge Community College

Destrehan baseball player Blake Hymel contributed from both the plate and the stripe, finishing with an 8-3 record while batting .312 with 3 homers and 28 RBIs. He also finished the season with 8 doubles while scoring 21 runs for the Wildcats.

Ashley Bolin – Destrehan – Softball
Signed with Baton Rouge Community College

 

Destrehan pitcher Ashley Bolin excelled from both the plate and stripe for the Lady Wildcats. She went a perfect 2-0 in district play with a 1.90 ERA. She also hit .344 for the season with 3 home runs and 6 doubles.
