Signing Day: 15 from DHS, HHS sign college scholarships

St. Charles Parish was well represented on National Signing Day on Wednesday, with 15 local students inking scholarships to continue their athletic careers in college.

Ten students from Hahnville, including seven football players, made their college decisions. Tiger cornerbacks Larry Boyd and Jamal Smith will continue to play together in college, with both players signing with Grambling State University.

Hahnville offensive lineman Hunter Perrin will suit up for Northwestern State University of Louisiana next fall, while Tiger punter/kicker Craig Ford has signed with the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

Three more Hahnville football players will continue their careers at junior colleges. Tiger defensive tackle Shawn Benson signed with Copiah Lincoln Junior College. Defensive end Ricky Davis and running back Lynn Simmons will both play for Contra Costa Community College next year.

Hahnville twin track stars Beau and Bryce Robinson will be on the same squad next year after both signed cross country scholarships with the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Hahnville soccer player Kim Porche also made her college decision on Wednesday and will compete at Southeastern Louisiana University.

Destrehan had five athletes sign college scholarships, including three football players.

Quarterback Donovan Isom will compete for playing time next year at the University of Utah. Linebacker RaeJuan Marbley will suit up for Tulane University while fellow linebacker Malcolm Darensbourg will continue his football career at the University of Arkansas at Monticello.

Wildcat volleyball star Jennifer McClendon signed with the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

Destrehan soccer player Jacob Johnson, who helped lead his team to a district title this season, will play for East Central Community College next year.
