Mimosa knocks off JCC, 609-446 in swim meet

The Mimosa Dolphins swam around the Jewish Community Center in last week’s meet, beating JCC 609-466.

Several Dolphins picked up first-place finishes, including Devin Candies, who won both the backstroke and freestyle in the 15-18 age division. Dillon Tauzin captured first in the breaststroke in that same division, while Victoria Dufrene came out on top in the backstroke and the butterfly for the 15-18 girls.

In the 13-14 age group, Vincent Tamplain and Tori Mato dominated the field for the boys and girls, respectively. Tamplain had the fastest time in the backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly while Mato won those three divisions for the girls.

Also getting a first-place finish in the 13-14 boys division was Destin Gilbert, who won the freestyle.

Kayli Mato led the 11-12 girls by coming out first in three events, including the freestyle, breaststroke and butterfly. Alexis Tamplain had the fastest backstroke time in that same division.

For the boys, Jay Madden won both the breaststroke and the butterfly for the 11-12 age group, while Mason Candies finished first in the freestyle and Caleb Karling picked up a top finish in the backstroke.

Marissa Gilbert was the top finisher for the 9-10 girls, winning the freestyle, backstroke and butterfly. Fellow 9-10 swimmer Carson Wilke captured first in the breaststroke for the girls.

In that same age group, Mikey McGuire took home first in the butterfly for the boys.

The top swimmer in the 7-8 boys was Rhett Comeaux, who won top honors in both the freestyle and the backstroke. Vladimir Furl finished first in the butterfly in the same age group.

And in the youngest division, Anna Fuselier had the fastest time in the 6 & under girls freestyle.
