The Hahnville Lady Tigers only played four innings Tuesday before rain forced the players off the field, but that was enough time for the team to put up 11 runs in a win over East St. John.
Taylor Webre, Hope Mair and Elise deBruler all hit home runs in the victory, which gave the Lady Tigers their 10th straight win.
Since dropping their district opener to East Ascension, the Lady Tigers have been on a tear and are now 20-2 on the season and 4-1 in district play.
In those 10 wins, four have been huge district victories. The Lady Tigers blanked rival Destrehan 9-0 and then used a grand slam by deBruler to knock off Dutchtown (15-5) 6-4.
But the Lady Tigers most impressive victory came in last Thursday’s 10-2 win over St. Amant.
The Lady Gators are always a district power and entered the game against Hahnville with a 15-2-1 record that included a perfect district mark of 3-0. But the Lady Tigers weren’t intimidated. In fact, Hahnville proved that they could be state title contenders once again by knocking off St. Amant 10-2.
After the first two innings, Hahnville and St. Amant were tied at 2-2, but then the Lady Tiger offense exploded. Hahnville picked up a run in the third, added four more in the fourth and then put the game away with three runs in the sixth for the 10-2 victory.
Summer Melancon paced Hahnville with three hits and two RBIs. Webre and Alexandra Friloux also had three hits for the Lady Tigers in the victory.
Hannah Haydel picked up the win from the circle. She is now 20-2 on the season.
The win over St. Amant seemed to give Hahnville all the confidence they needed when they traveled to West Monroe for the North-South Challenge over the weekend.
The Lady Tigers swept the tournament, beating Evangel 5-2, blowing past West Ouachita 5-1 and then blanking Winnfield 3-0.
Amye Barre was 5-for-10 in the tourney with five RBIs and a two-run homer against West Ouachita.
Webre also had a three-run shot against West Ouachita, while Courtney Dutreix went 5-for-10 in the three games.
The Lady Tigers will host East Ascension Thursday at 4 p.m. and will travel to Destrehan on April 5. That game is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
