Lady Tigers increase win streak to 15 games

After cruising through district play with a 10-0 record, the Hahnville softball team increased their win streak to 15 games after impressive wins over Fontainebleau, Berwick and Mt. Carmel.

The Lady Tigers are now 27-2 on the season.

In one of their closest wins of the year, the Lady Tigers took advantage of runs in the third and fifth frames to knock off Fontainebleau 2-1.

Courtney Dutreix recorded the only RBI for Hahnville in the fifth. With a 1-0 lead, Taylor Hogan walked to start the frame. A sacrifice by Pepper Baker moved Hogan to second and Dutreix blasted a single to center to bring Hogan home.

Lady Tiger ace Hannah Haydel cruised from there. Haydel pitched a complete game, allowing only three hits and one run. She struck out four.

Megan Bush was the only other Hahnville player to record a hit in the game.

Hahnville’s offense woke up against Berwick, as the Lady Tigers knocked 18 hits on their way to a 12-0 win.

Hahnville scored multiple runs in the first four innings and was led at the plate by Dutreix, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBIs. Summer Melancon and Alexandra Friloux both finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Amye Barre, Bush, Lauren Simar and Hogan also drove in runs in the game.

Haydel got the win for the Lady Tigers, allowing only two hits and striking out eight in five innings.

Mt. Carmel 2

Mt. Carmel took an early 2-0 lead over Hahnville in the first inning, but the Lady Tigers responded with a four-run second inning to put the game away.

Simar began the scoring onslaught by singling to center. Hogan then reached on an error and Friloux singled to right to bring Simar home. Another single by Melancon gave the Lady Tigers a 3-2 lead, with Dutreix stealing home to give Hahnville a 4-2 advantage.

Bush led the team from the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double. Melancon went 1-for-2 with two RBIs.

Haydel got the win, giving up seven hits and two runs in seven innings. She struck out five in the game.
