Hurricanes place 3rd at World Series

The Louisiana Hurricanes recently completed their summer season by winning the Louisiana State USSSA Fastpitch Softball Championship in Lafayette and placing third at the USSSA 13U World Series held in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Canes roared through the State Tournament without a loss – defeating the Louisiana Cajun Extreme from Carencro by the ten run rule in the Championship Game.  Named to the All-State Team were Elise deBruler, Heather Barber, Jacey Mouton and Courtney Western.

The State Championship qualified the Hurricanes for the 13U USSSA World Series held in Cincinnati. The Canes finished the World Series with an   8 – 2 record, defeating teams from Ontario, Canada, Chicago, Ohio, Wisconsin and Indiana.

The Hurricanes were eliminated in the semi-finals by the Smokey Mountain Sting from Ashville, South Carolina. Named to the All-Tournament team were Courtney Western, Megan Louque and Bailey Flores. Coaches are Nolan Louque, Head Coach and Gary Western Asst. The team is managed by William deBruler.

The 14U Canes are part of the Louisiana Hurricane Softball Organization based in St. Charles Parish. In 2006 the Hurricanes fielded teams in 10U, 12U, 14U and 16U. The group competes regionally and nationally in Amateur Softball Association (ASA), National Softball Association (NSA) and USSSA events.
