HHS receiver commits to UL-Lafayette

James Butler led Hahnville with 990 receiving yards on 59 catches. He also scored 9 touchdowns.

Hahnville High School wide receiver James Butler verbally committed to the University of Louisiana-Lafayette this past weekend.

The 6-2, 200 pound end had scholarship offers from Colorado, Louisiana Tech, Tulsa and Mississippi State before selecting the Ragin’ Cajuns.

If Butler decides to sign with UL-Lafayette on signing day he will be one of the biggest catches in recent years from this area of the state and the most significant player to be signed by the Cajuns since they signed former St. Charles Catholic star halfback Tyrell Fenroy five years ago.

Butler led the Hahnville receivers with 59 catches for 990 yards, averaging 16.8 yards per catch and he scored 9 touchdowns in 2009.
