HHS offensive lineman chosen for all-star game

Hahnville senior offensive lineman Hunter Perrin will compete with top football players from around the state on Saturday, Dec. 21 in Shreveport in the East-West All-Star Football Game.

The 6-foot-3, 285-pound Perrin has been a stalwart on the offensive line for the Tigers since his freshman season. Last year, Perrin was chosen as an honorable mention selection on the Football Coaches Association of Louisiana’s Class 5A All-State team.

This year’s all-state teams have not been announced yet.Perrin, who paved the way for a strong Hahnville rushing attack in 2013, has committed to play football for Northwestern State University in Natchitoches.

The Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) in conjunction with the Louisiana High School Coaches Association (LHSCA) and the Louisiana Football Coaches Association (LFCA), put on the annual game.

Any member-school coach was able to nominate a senior football player for consideration.  The selection committee, which was comprised of coaches from each class and the coaches of the all-star game, narrowed down the 389 nominees from 161 schools to two, 36-member teams.

The LHSCA and the LFCA moved the game from its original time in July to December to accommodate more student athletes. The new December date allows football standouts to participate in other all-star games as well and does not conflict with potential collegiate trainings, which are typically held later in the summer.

The game will be held at Independence Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
