HHS, DHS dominate All-District softball teams

The Hahnville Tigers and Destrehan Wildcats softball teams were well represented in the end of season all-district softball honors.

All-District 1st Team

Kenneth Vial – Hahnville Head Coach

Head coach Kenneth Vial led the Lady Tigers to the district championship with a perfect 5-0 record. His team finished with a 29-4 overall record.

Lauren Simar, MVP – Hahnville, Jr.

Hahnville third baseman Lauren Simar was in beast mode in 2013. She led the Lady Tigers with an exceptional .465 batting average and also led the team with 39 RBIs and 37 runs scored. Simar blasted 7 home runs, jacked 3 triples and knocked 15 doubles to lead her squad in every offensive category.

Pepper Baker – Hahnville, Sr.

Catcher Pepper Baker finished the season with a .356 batting average that included 8 doubles, a home run and 22 RBIs. Taylor Hogan – Hahnville, Jr.Taylor Hogan scored 37 runs and finished with 23 RBIs while hitting 4 home runs. She hit .357 on the season.

Madison Fremen – Hahnville, Fr.

Freshman Madison Fremen finished the year with a .268 batting average that included 13 RBIs and 2 home runs.

Lauren Beadle – Hahnville, So.

Only a sophomore, Lauren Beadle pitched every game for Hahnville, finishing with a 29-4 record with 173 strikeouts. Her ERA was 1.93.

Megan Bush – Hahnville, Sr.

One of Hahnville’s two seniors, Megan Bush finished with a .365 batting average. She hit 2 home runs, 10 doubles and drove in 26 runs.

Kaylyn Morales – Hahnville, Jr.

Kaylyn Morales drove in 17 runs and scored 36 while batting .382. She had 7 doubles on the season.

Kelly Ortego – Hahnville, Fr.

Freshman Kelly Ortego hit 4 doubles and scored 20 runs while batting .241 for the Tigers.

Bryce Button – Hahnville, So.

Hahnville designated hitter Bryce Button drove in 25 runs for the Tigers while blasting 10 doubles and 4 home runs. She hit .354 on the season.

Ashley Bolin – Destrehan, Sr.

Ashley Bolin went a perfect 2-0 in district play with a 1.90 ERA. She also hit .344 for the season with 3 home runs and 6 doubles.

Michelle Haydel – Destrehan, Sr.

Michelle Haydel finished the season with a .326 batting average that included 6 doubles and a triple. She also drove in 17 runs.

Nicole Haydel – Destrehan, Sr.

Nicole Haydel batted .330 on the season with 24 RBIs. She also recorded 10 doubles and 5 home runs for the Lady Wildcats.

Abbie Hall – Destrehan, Sr.

Abbie Hall drove in a team-leading 28 RBIs for Destrehan while batting .381. She had 10 doubles and 6 home runs.

Krista Robles – Destrehan, Fr.

Only a freshman, Krista Robles tied for the team lead in batting average by hitting .381 on the season. She had 17 RBIs, 13 doubles and 3 home runs.

All-District 2nd Team

Anna Hall – Destrehan, Jr.

Anna Hall drove in 11 runs while batting .270 with 3 doubles, 2 triples and a home run.

Amanda McNaughton – Destrehan, Fr.

Amanda McNaughton drove in 5 runs for Destrehan while batting .289 with a double.

Casey Desentz – Destrehan, Jr.

Casey Desentz finished the season with a .213 batting average that included 4 doubles and 6 RBIs.

Gabby Marks – Destrehan, Jr.

Gabby Marks finished the season with 4 RBIs and a double for the Lady Wildcats.

Maeson Martindale – Hahnville, So.

In her first full year as starter, Maeson Martindale had a .374 batting average and drove in 24 runs.
