Hahnville’s 4-game win streak comes to end

The Hahnville Tigers (8-3) saw a four-game win streak come to an end with a 48-37 loss to Shaw last week.

The Tigers had been on a roll since late December, beating Helen Cox (61-49), Lakeshore (56-33), John McDonogh (63-39) and Belle Chasse (72-26).

“We are still in the process of getting use to playing together,” Tiger head coach Brian Lumar said. “We played hard in our four wins but we are still not playing consistent basketball.

“We play hard, smart, and together in spurts, and once we are able to combine all three elements and commit to it every possession we will be a dangerous team.”

The Tigers will begin district play on Jan. 18 when they travel to East Ascension at 7 p.m. Hahnville will host their first district game on Jan. 21 when they take on rival Destrehan. That game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.

East Ascension is 12-7 on the year and has some big wins over both Lutcher and Woodlawn.

Lumar said his team will be ready for their district slate.

“We have a lot of guys without any varsity experience so we will only continue to improve,” he said.
