Hahnville swims to district title

The Hahnville High School boys’ swim team combined for 511 points to cruise to the West District championship.

Hahnville finished more than 200 points ahead of second place Destrehan. Chalmette High School came in third, followed by Haynes Academy and Grace King.

Tiger freshman Earle Madden led the team by finishing first in both the 500-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke with times of 5:31.90 and 1:07.45, respectively.

Hahnville junior Warren Massimini won the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.22, while Tiger freshman Caleb Karling came out on top in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:07.10.

Hahnville junior Vincent Tamplain won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 57.70.

Aside from the strong individual performances, the Tigers also dominated the team events by sweeping all the relays.Hahnville’s first place 200-yard freestyle relay team consisted of Brice Soignier, Seth Mullins, Austin Burke and Tony Corley. The 400-yard freestyle relay team included Joe Foucha, Burke, Madden and Massimini.

The Tigers also finished in first in the 200-yard medley relay. Team members swimming in that event included Tamplain, Foucha, Madden and Massimini.
