Hahnville rebounds with Battle on the Bluff wins

Pick up victories over LaGrange, Lacassine

After a pair of tough losses to John Ehret and Parkway, the Lady Tigers rebounded with back-to-back victories over LaGrange and Lacassine to improve to 7-7 on the season.

Hahnville beat LaGrange 59-49 then knocked off Lacassine 45-42 in the Battle on the Bluff tournament in Lake Charles.

“The wins against LaGrange and Lacassine were very important to the development of our team,” Hahnville head coach Kevin Robicheaux said. “Both teams were complete opposites which meant we had to play different styles of basketball.”

Robicheaux described LaGrange as an athletic team with some physical players, while Lacassine had fundamental players who could shoot the ball well from the outside.

“In order to win these games, we were able to play consistent basketball,” Robicheaux said. “This is something we haven’t done often this year. They were especially important wins since we had lost a tough game the night before against Parkway (from Shreveport).”

The Lady Tigers will play two more pre-district games against Dominican and Warren Easton before district play begins on Jan. 11.

“These games will be important wins to improve our rankings in the state as we begin district competition,” Robicheaux said.
