Hahnville falls to Sulphur, season ends in round two

Sulphur rallied in the seventh inning Saturday to score three runs and eliminate host Hahnville from the Class 5A playoffs, winning 7-6 to earn a clinching win in the second round series between the teams.

The Golden Tors defeated the Tigers 5-1 Friday before Saturday’s win, netting the team a 2-0 sweep in the best of three series.

 Scott Jones’ walk-off 3-run home run was the difference for Sulphur Saturday, which entered the seventh inning trailing 6-4. Jones went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and two runs scored.

Hahnville’s Austin Perrin went the complete game, taking the loss. He allowed six runs on seven hits and four walks. He struck out 10.

Three Sulphur pitchers combined to allow six runs (four earned) on eight hits and four walks. Jake Broussard earned the win in relief, pitching two scoreless, one-hit innings.

Waylon LeBlanc and Cade Miguez each collected two hits to lead Hahnville offensively. Josh Nunez and Lloyd Landry each scored two runs.

Hahnville finished its season 25-12.
