Hahnville can’t contain St. Thomas More in 52-12 loss

Week 5 at St. Thomas More always promised to be one of the most challenging games on Hahnville’s schedule from both a physical and mental standpoint — the 4A Cougars are a perennial state contender, and the game would entail a Tiger road trip to Lafayette one week after facing archrival Destrehan.

On this night, it proved to be more of a challenge than the Tigers were up for. St. Thomas More rolled to a 52-12 victory in non-district action, handing Hahnville its third straight defeat.

Mike Neal threw two touchdown passes for Hahnville, one to Kevin Comardelle (25 yards)  and another to Devonte Cravin (24 yards).

St. Thomas More’s Will Bellamy connected with Trevor Begue for three touchdown passes. Begue finished with four touchdowns, including a 93-yard kickoff return. Evan Trahan rushed for over 120 yards and scored twice.

For the second straight week, HHS struggled to contain an explosive shotgun spread attack. STM led 38-6 at one point and racked up over 500 yards of offense.

Hahnville drops to 2-3 with the loss. St. Thomas More improves to 4-1.

The Tigers will turn their focus to Terrebonne, who will host Hahnville next Friday night in District 7-5A action.
