DHS Offensive Player of the Year

Rickey Jefferson, Destrehan – Position WR

He may be young, but sophomore receiver Rickey Jefferson made a huge impact on the Wildcats this season.

Jefferson, who played several different positions for Destrehan, rushed for 300 yards and scored three touchdowns on 35 carries, caught 18 passes for 327 yards and four touchdowns, and had 275 return yards and two touchdowns.

For his efforts, Jefferson was named All-District as both a return specialist and a wide receiver.

“Rickey made big play after big play for us this year,” Destrehan head coach Chris Stroud said. “He is special with the ball in his hands.”

Jefferson also saw time on defense during the season, playing cornerback on passing downs.

“We’re counting on Rickey to mature and be an all-around player and leader,” Stroud added.
