Destrehan & Hahnville prepare for season’s end

After stomping rival Hahnville, the Destrehan Wildcats suffered a slight setback in a defensive struggle with Glen Oaks, falling 37-38. But Destrehan didn’t stay down for long and was able to rebound with a 71-57 win over St. Amant and a 77-64 victory over East St. John.That district win, pushed the teams league record to 6-2 and gave them an overall 24-10 mark.

Destrehan never trailed against East St. John after sprinting out to a 10-0 lead in the opening minutes of the contest.

Roosevelt Johnson led the Wildcats in scoring, finishing with 17 points. The big man also had four blocked shots and five rebounds in the first half.

Darrow Barnes chipped in with 14 points, while Kevin Smothers helped his team to the win by knocking in 10.

Jamaan Kenner managed to keep East St. John in the game by scoring a game high 19 points.

Things didn’t go as smoothly for Hahnville after their defeat to Destrehan. The Tigers suffered a 39-60 loss to district mate East Ascension which dropped their league record to 2-5. Overall, the Tigers are 15-7.
