Destrehan dominates South Lafourche, remains perfect

The Destrehan Wildcats played one of their most complete games of the season in a 55-0 thrashing of South Lafourche on Friday night.

With the win, the Wildcats remain perfect with an 8-0 record.

Destrehan dominated on both sides of the ball throughout the game, keeping South Lafourche from picking up a first down in the first half while racking up 41 points in the first two quarters.

The Wildcats took the lead with a 40-yard touchdown run by Marquise Darensbourg on their first possession of the first quarter, then scored on every possession of the opening half.

Darensbourg put his team up 14-0 with a 15-yard pass to Alfred Smith, and running back Will Matthews made the score 20-0 with a 2-yard touchdown run on the opening play of the second quarter.

Destrehan backup quarterback Kohen Granier got most of the snaps under center in the second quarter and he made them count.

Granier extended the Destrehan lead with a 21-yard touchdown pass to senior receiver Jon Barrow. Minutes later, he put his team on top 34-0 with a 9-yard touchdown strike to John Williams.

Darensbourg came back into the game for the final two minutes of the second quarter, rushing 23 yards for the score on fourth down to give Destrehan a 41-0 lead at the break.

Darensbourg got his fourth touchdown of the game in the opening minutes of the third quarter when he found Tramaine Armstrong for a 68-yard score.
