Destrehan blows away Higgins, 10-0

Wildcats remain undefeated in district

The Destrehan boys’ soccer team tightened their grip on the top spot in District 8-1 by throttling Higgins 10-0 on Friday night to remain undefeated in league play with a 5-0 record.

The Wildcats took a season-high 20 shots on goal in the victory and six players scored. Kyler LeGrange led the team with four goals and one assist while junior midfielder Ryan Guidry added two goals and two assists.

Seth Danna, Kyle Burnam, Jordan Miranda and Jacob Johnson also scored for Destrehan. Danna and Burnam each finished with two assists.

Destrehan senior goalie Alex Diaz had two saves in the game while freshman backup Will Sirmon also had a save.

Destrehan’s offense has been impressive this season. LeGrange leads the team with 21 goals in only 14 games, while Johnson has 14 goals in 10 games. Guidry is also in double-digit scoring numbers with 11 goals.

The Wildcats will return to action on Friday, Jan. 17 when they host East St. John. The game is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
