18 recreational teams face off in annual football tournament
On Sunday, Oct. 12, 18 parish recreational football teams met in Des Allemands for the annual Gator Bowl. The tournament, held annually in Des Allemands, included teams in the following divisions: 6, 7 and 8 years of age, 9 and 10, and 11 and 12 ages groups.
This years competitors included: Des Allemands – Martindale, Mimosa – Singleton, Des Allemands – Curole, Mimosa – Joyce, Des Allemands – Perrin, Mimosa – Nunez, LA Hurricanes, E. New Orleans Saints, Mimosa – Chassion, Luling – Wright, Des Allemands – Perrin, Norco – Schulin, Boutte – Brown, St. Rose – Baptist, Boutte – Jefferson, St. Rose – Bruno, Luling – Dumiles and Norco – Capitano.
The Gator Bowl consisted of 9 games played on two fields with a homecoming intermission.
The homecoming event featured youth in all three age divisions as well.
The winners are:
•6, 7 and 8 years: Conrad Alleman, king, son of Conrad and Jean Alleman. Erin Housend, queen, daughter of Shannon and Bonnie Housend. Kaine Candies, prince, son of Murphy Candies Sr. and Tobi and Davis Aucoin. Mandy LeBlanc, princess, daughter of Rodney and Bridgette LeBlanc. Christoper Zeringue, 1st alternate, sone od Zack and Maxine Zeringue. Chloe LeBlanc, 1st alternate, daughter of Ryan LeBlanc.
•9 and 10 years: Lee Robichaux, king, son of Lee and Venesssa Robichaux. Samantah Fulgham, queen, daughter of Barry and Julie Fulgham. Whitney Curole, prince, son of W.C. and Lisa Curole. Elise Deimeil, princess, daughter of Steven and Monique Hinklin. Dylan Crockett, 1st alternate, son of Ferdie and Jessica Cortez. Abbey Breaux, 1st alternate, daughter of Chad and Danielle Breaux.
•11 and 12: Mark Brien, king, son of Mark and Angela Brien. Madelyn Guillot, queen, daughter of Tedd and Amy Guillot. Peyton Robert, prince, son of Bruzer and Dawn Robert. Macy Breaux, princess, daughter of Kerry Breaux and Lisa Rando. Gavin Hotard, 1st alternate, son of Shannon and Bonnie Housend. Caitlyn Robinson, 1st alternate, daughter of George and Christy Robinson.
