260 ‘Run for the Son’ at SCC

Race in memory of teacher who passed away unexpectedly

The 12th annual FCA “Run for the Son” 5K race and one mile fun run/walk was held Saturday March 31 at St. Charles Catholic High School.

Runners and walkers were greeted with mild and slightly humid conditions after overnight rains. A total of 260 runners and walkers participated making the race the largest annual race in St. John Parish.

This year’s race was dedicated to the memory of Marie Ory Dupont (Class of 2000) who had passed away unexpectedly in October. SCC senior Paige Maurin designed a special race t-shirt to honor Marie.

Pierre McGraw and Giselle Jase were the winners of the 5K race. Jase’s time was 26:15 and Bergeron ran 19:14. Chris Millet and Karleigh Landry were the winners in the one mile race. Millet finished in 5:21 while Karleigh Landry finished with a time of 7:28.

The top ten female runners in the 5K race were Giselle Jase (26:15), Mikie Richoux (26:22), Anne Matherne (27:02), Christina Bergeron,(29:05) , Alyssa Arceneaux (29:27), Erin Roussel (29:27), Rachel Hotard (30:49), Dolly Forsythe (32:19), and Gina Monica (32:31). Top ten in the 5K male division were Pierre McGraw (19:14), Ben Bergeron (19:17), Pierce Petit (21:52), Charles Grenier (21:58), Michael Roberts (22:02), Pat Miculek (22:49), Matthew Holland (23:20), Jason Fabre (23:35), Everett Planchet (25:22) and Anthony Manson (25:31).

The top ten female runners in the one mile were Karleigh Landry (7:28), Grace Richoux (7:30), Kelly Campbell (7:32), Laura Hane (7:33), Allison Arcuri (7:53), Hanah Ryan (8:04), Briann Caire (8:07), Ashly Armand (8:14), Gabrielle Faucheux (8:21) and Elise Loisel (9:23). Top ten in the male one mile run were Chris Millet (5:21), Jared Tregre (6:32), Albert Hane (5:48), Frank Roth (5:50), Brandon Klibert (6:04), Sage Mulkey (6:08), Connor Smith(6:09), George Faggs (6:12), Justin Dubose (6:13), and Hunter Clement (6:46).

SCC winners in the 5K were senior Emma Richard, juniors Anthony Manson and Megan Landry, sophomore Pierce Petit, freshman Michael Roberts and eighth grader Ethan Ocmand. Winners in the one mile were seniors Nick Montegut and Laura Hane, juniors Gabrielle Faucheux and Austin Matherne, sophomores Allison Arcuri and Brandon Klibert, freshmen Albert Hane and eighth grader Justin Dubose.

After the race more than 100 awards and prizes were given out to participants. Local businesses helped to underwrite the race and donated door prizes. Proceeds benefit the local Fellowship of Christian Athletes and help to finance their annual trip to summer camp in North Carolina.
