The 21st Annual Spillway Classic Trail Run saw a record turn out of just under 1500 participants and a new course record for the womens’ division on July 20 at the Bonnet Carre Spillway in Norco. Malia Cali of St. Thomas Aquinas High School set the record with a time of 18:28. The previous womens’ course record of 18:37 was set by Santilla Victorian in 1996. Brendan Minihan, Jr. won the mens’ overall title for the seventh time with a time of 16:53.
The weather was very warm and the course rating was 3.5 with the course being mostly dry. This did not stop many runners from finding what little mud and water was available on the course to blend in with.
