Woman, 66, attacked in Wal-Mart parking lot, say cops

LULING – Four men tried to snatch a 66-year-old woman’s purse in the Wal-Mart parking lot but after a struggle, they fled – and the scrappy lady kept her bag.

•Rodnell D. Baptiste, 22, of 1418 Paul Frederick St. in Luling was arrested on Oct. 31 and charged with possession of stolen property over $500 and resisting an officer. Baptiste was arrested after allegedly being in possession of a stolen riding lawn mower.

•Victor A. Cooper, 23, of Royal Street in New Orleans, Eugene C. Mackey, 20, of 2321 Roffignac St. in New Orleans and Tyrone Landry of Mandeville were arrested at the intersection of Turner St. in Boutte on Oct. 31 and charged with possession of a stolen auto valued at over $500.

The men were stopped for a traffic violation and further investigation revealed that the vehicle they were in was stolen.

Cooper was also charged with no brake lights, switched license plate, no driver’s license and on a St. Charles Sheriff’s Office attachment.

•Connie M. Hawco, 40, of 813 Evangeline St. in Luling was arrested after a routine traffic stop at the intersection of LA 52 and Second St. in Luling on Nov. 2 and charged with possession of controlled substances.

•John Henry, 36, of 328 Farar St. in Kenner and Kermit Nelson, 36, of 849 3rd St. Apt. B in Kenner were arrested on Oct. 27 on Almedia Road in St. Rose and charged with possession of stolen property.

The men were stopped for a traffic violation and further investigation revealed that they were in a stolen vehicle. Henry was also charged with having a suspended driver’s license and failure to use a turn signal.

DWI

•Carl D. Ingram, 33, of 603 Kinler St. in Luling was arrested at the intersection of LA 52 and Blueberry Hill Road on Nov. 3 and charged with DWI, not stoping at a stop sign, expired insurance, open container and suspended driver’s license.

Theft

•A Kia Spectra, valued at $4500, was stolen from 516 St. Charles St. in Norco on Nov. 1.

•A 2002 Camaro, valued at $11,000 was stolen from 1952 Ormond Blvd. in Destrehan on Nov. 1.

•Assorted tools, valued at $750, were stolen from 15634 River Road in Destrehan on Nov. 2.

•A 20 inch television and a microwave oven, valued at $140 were stolen from 13468 Hwy 90 in Boutte on Nov. 2.

Obscenity

•An unknown black male allegedly knocked on a Destrehan woman’s window and exposed himself on Oct. 28. It is reported that when the woman looked through the window, she saw a man standing across the street wearing a gray shirt and said that he partially covered his face while he touched himself.

Armed Robbery

•A 51-year-old Des Allemands woman was robbed at gunpoint while working at the Jubilee Chevron, 17178 U.S. 90 in Des Allemands. The victim stated that an unknown white male wearing a blue jump suit and ski mask entered the store and pointed a gun at her demanding money. The victim opened the cash register and gave the subject an undetermined amount of money. The subject then fled the scene. This incident is under investigation.
