Gun control not only solution

Here we are talking and arguing about how we can cut the murder rate with gun control on the American scene. And, meanwhile, three people were killed and nearly 300 were injured at the Boston Marathon by something grandma had in her kitchen.

We have to do a lot more studying on the issue. Guns are not the only problem.

So what is another solution that will make our lives safer as we take advantage of the openness we want in order to enjoy and improve our life here on earth? It is also the frame of mind of the people who endanger our lives. The weapons are everywhere.

We need a psychological study on the minds of human beings. What is it that makes some of them ready to kill for whatever reason they come up with?

Maybe religion should be given a major part in the solution. By helping churches to inspire the public to give unto others as they would give unto themselves and to maintain peace, maybe our murder rate would decline.

And maybe the people acting on their own can help by being on the lookout for those who are suspicious. As we pointed out last week in Our View, the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office urges citizens to report any activities that could indicate illegal activities afoot.

And the world has to be our partner in this. We need to have the cooperation of countries around the globe that will inspect any activities that look like evil doings.

It’s a big problem, to be sure, and it will take a leader or leaders who will gain the confidence of other nations and who can inspire the best in us to make this a better and safer world.
