Don’t think about global warming

If you thought our planet was about to succumb to global warming, think again. In the next few days, St. Charles Parish is expected to have its lowest temperatures in 14 years. England is experiencing its worst winter in a century.

In other words, global warming is not one of our concerns this week and next. So bundle up and get prepared.

If you have exposed pipes, wrap them up or at least allow them to drip. Shelter your pets.

Take tender potted plants indoors. Cover your outdoor tropicals from the ground up. This keeps the heat stored in the ground on target to help save your plants.

Water your outdoor plants to keep them hydrated and better able to handle the cold. But don’t hose down their leaves and expect that frozen water will protect them. This doesn’t help, according to some agriculturists.

Make sure your heater is working quite properly. If not, go stay with a friend who is better prepared.

Don’t use kerosene or propane heaters indoors. With flu season underway, button up when you go outdoors.

Temperatures in the St. Charles area are expected to get into the lower twenties or even upper teens Friday and Saturday nights. So be prepared. And don’t worry about global warming this week.
